The Manager of the Parc BIT visits the CCStaR

On Monday 19th of December of 2011 the Manager of the Parc BIT (Balearic Park of technological Innovation) went to see the CCStaR Solar Concentrator.

The Parc BIT is where our company is located. A few months ago Mr. Mateu Orrach became the new manager of the Parc BIT. When we firstly explained in what our project consists we thought that it should be better to him to come and see the project.

We were glad to receive Mr. Orrach to our installations and show him what the CCStaR is.

Real Live Data of the CCStaR

This week we have installed a webserver to the CCStaR we have in Son Manera. We are still working on it, but you can already see the impulsion and return temperatures, the instant power and a control panel for the CCStaR.

An article about the CCStaR Solar Collector was published in the magazine Nueva Era, edition 165.

The article was written by three of the partners of TSC, Ramon Pujol, Andreu Moià and Víctor Martínez. The text talks about the reasons which took them to develop the solar concentrator CCStaR, the geometries analyzed to concentrate the light efficiently and the methods of study used. It also gives relevant data about the thermal efficiency of the CCStaR in front of other technologies.

Presentation of the CCStaR

On Wednesday 29th of june there was a presentation of the CCStaR. The presentation, organized by Jaume Catany S.L., was directed to Engineers and Architects who were interested in the applications that the CCStaR offers.

Andreu Moià made the first speech beside the solar concentrator at 17:30. At this time the CCStaR had been working during all day because it was tested for temperatures of 130ºC. So the guests could see it working with their own eyes.

When the show of the solar concentrator finished, Ramon Pujol explained the characteristics, advantages and the economic mark that makes viable the use of the CCStaR.

The presentation ended with a snack at the restaurant of the rural hotel where the CCStaR is installed in.

Intersolar Europe 2011

From the day 8th to 10th of June is being celebrated the international fair Intersolar Europe 2011, located in Munich. This fair is one of the most important events at global level, in the sector of solar energy. Our Physicist, Ramon Pujol, and our Technical Director, Víctor Martínez, has assisted to this event.

Their mission has been to give to know the Solar Concentrator CCStaR. Last week we made a diary to make an optimal use of time in the fair. Víctor and Ramon have get together with aproximatelly 20 companies to talk about the CCStaR. Both two have had a good impression over the reaction of people when they were talked about the CCStaR.

We are grateful with the companies that have received us and we hope to keep the contact in the future.

Presentation for Abtecir

The 26th of may a presentation of the CCStaR for Abtecir was made.

The meeting point was at the rural hotel Son Manera where the CCStaR is. When everybody had arrived Ramon took the visitors to see The CCStaR prototype. There he explained the characteristics of the solar collector.

After the visit at the solar concentrator people went at the conference room to hear an interesting speech made by both Andreu Moyà , about the value of the renewable energies, and Ramon Pujol, about the applications and potential market of the CCStaR.

The meeting ended with a snack at the restaurant of the rural hotel. During the snack people shared impressions and showed interest for the CCStaR.

Thermal tests

During this month and the following we are performing the thermal tests for the CCStaR Collector. The results of the tests will be published as soon as possible but we can advance that we had a peak of power of 21,5KW working at 100ºC during the 24th of may.

The efficiency during this peak of power was rounding the 65% with a direct solar radiation of 800W/m2.

CCStaR presentation at the rural hotel Son Manera.

On 22nd of march at 10:00 AM at the rural hotel Son Manera there was an act of presentation of the innovator solar concentrator CCStaR(Collector Concentrating with Stationary Reflector) of the enterprise T.S.C., an spin-off of the UIB.

The dr. Víctor Martínez Moll (professor at the University of the Balearic Islands in the mechanical engineering group) made an introductory speech at the rural hotel entrance. In this speech he explained about what the project consists, where T.S.C. went out and agreed the help of all people involved in the project.

After that they visited the solar concentrator where Víctor followed his speech about the characteristics of it. The assistant showed a lot of interest all the time, making questions about the operation of the solar concentrator, working temperatures, maintenance between others.

The topics more talked were the solar cooling by double effect absorption, solar heating, and possible applications in the industry.

Between the assistants were, Vicens Matas, general director of the Parc BIT, Domingo Muñoz, the businessman who believed in the project since the beginning and invested on it, Feliciano Fuster, the honorific director of Endesa and the representation of the Energy Counseling and other companies like Sampol, Cabot, Fundació Eduard Soler, Jo-Go…

Finally the visit finished by a snack, courtesy by Mr. Domingo Muñoz, at the restaurant of the rural hotel, were we have enjoyed of an opinion interchange between the assistants, who congratulated us for getting ahead with a so colossus project.
